Position: Summer Jobs Program Coordinator

Our mission is to be the leader in workforce development for Frederick County and contribute to the economic prosperity of the community.  The Summer Jobs Program seeks to provide Frederick County youth with summer employment, work readiness skills, and exposure to career possibilities with local businesses.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Part-time; seasonal; up to 30 hours per week;
Monday - Friday;
March 9, 2026-August 14, 2026; no benefits

This professional position is responsible for assisting with development and implementation of the summer jobs program including coordinating supported employment programs for youth and young adults and may include participants with intellectual/developmental disabilities through Frederick County Workforce Services.  It also assures programs are devised in compliance with requirements of County, State and Federal labor laws and related employment regulations. Supervision is received from the Youth Programs Workforce Services Manager;
Supervision may be given to Job Coaches and Counselors.

* Plan, develop, and administer worksites and work-based learning experiences, including supported employment designed to meet the needs of each individual and to facilitate his/her growth and development

* Coordinate job readiness skills training programs to meet the needs of the individuals

* Supervise Job Coaches and Jobsite Counselors to assure full implementation of the supported employment and other summer programs

* Compile and prepare production records, including timesheets and payroll reports.

* Oversee the worksite program including preparation of worksite orientation materials

* Create relationships and build networks with area businesses that will provide opportunities for youth to be employed

* Coordinate the youth participant and worksite matching process and track interview outcomes and placements.

* Participate in Team Meetings for discussion of progress of program participants

* Compile and prepare evaluations and progress reports, coordinate participant evaluations, and other related reports

* Perform other related duties as required

* Associate's degree

* Minimum 2 years of experience in program management, business coordination, or a related field which includes 1 year work experience supervising or directing the work of others

* Possession of a valid automobile operator's license

* NOTE:

Additional program management work experience may reduce the education requirement

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:

* Extensive knowledge of program planning and coordination

* Working knowledge of employment service programs including for persons with intellectual / developmental disabilities

* Ability to effectively access and utilize computerized systems including word processing, spreadsheets and presentation software

* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, program participants and their parents, employer worksites, grant partners, and the general public

* Ability to accurately compile and prepare program data and reports

* Strong and effective spoken and written (English) communication skills

PREFERENCE MAY BE GIVEN FOR:

* Degree in Special Education, Education, Psychology, or a closely related human services field

* Experience coordinating programs involving youth or young adults

* Secondary language skills in ASL and/or Spanish

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS /

WORKING CONDITIONS:

* While working in this position, the employee is required to frequently sit and preform repetitive motions; occasionally walk and drive; rarely lift up to 20 pounds and reach.

* While working in this position, the employee is required to constantly work indoors.

* Ability to provide own transportation to meetings, conferences, etc.

* Required certifications, licenses, etc. must be maintained during tenure of employment

* Available for varied working hours as needed to accommodate meetings, conferences, etc.
