Position SummaryThe faculty position supports the Mathematics programs and strategic operation of the School of Technology, Trades, Business, and Hospitality. Faculty work as members of an instructional team of full- and part‑time colleagues to consistently deliver high quality instruction to students. This position is part of the full‑time faculty collective bargaining unit. Working conditions, including teaching load, are governed by the UAMD‑FCC collective bargaining agreement.
The work that belongs to the bargaining faculty includes, but is not limited to, teaching, mentoring, advising and other instructional duties and assistance to students; professional service, including developing and maintaining the integrity of the curriculum and degree requirements, assessment and accreditation, and other duties related to departmental and college organization and operation; discipline‑appropriate scholarly and creative activity; other professional engagement in the broader life of the College community to maintain and continually work to improve the academic standards of the College and foster the conditions that enable the best possible College experience for students.
- Teach core courses in mathematics or related fields.
- Facilitate student mastery of core learning outcomes using the most relevant and scholarly tools available.
- Contribute to the development, planning, and implementation of a high‑quality curriculum.
- Actively engage students in critical thinking, meta‑cognitive processes, and advancement of critical communication skills.
- Model and cultivate open‑minded inquiry, an appreciation for diverse perspectives, and creative problem‑solving.
- Attend and participate in department meetings, commencement, convocations, time‑sensitive meetings called by administration, student open houses, orientations, and administrative days.
- Maintain a current level of knowledge and evidence‑based educational practices for courses/subjects taught.
- Uphold and contribute to the Frederick Community College Strategic Plan.
- Demonstrate positive attitudes and use effective skills in human relations with students, colleagues, administrators, and members of the community.
- Perform other work‑related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Mathematics Education, or a closely related field.
- One (1) year of experience teaching mathematics in college, high school, or to adult learners.
- A minimum of two (2) full‑time (or part‑time equivalent) years of college‑level teaching in Mathematics, Statistics, Mathematics Education, or a closely related field.
- Experience working with underrepresented or at‑risk students from developmental to credit level in both mathematics and statistics.
- Experience using best practices in the area of Mathematics.
- Experience with the use of innovative technology in the classroom.
- Bilingual in English and a second language.
- Experience facilitating and assessing student learning.
- Experience working effectively both autonomously and as a member of a collaborative team.
- Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and other instructional technology such as online homework systems.
- Experience related to the philosophy of teaching and learning in a community college setting.
Schedule determined according to course necessity. Courses are offered days, evening, or online.
