POSITION/RANK Assistant Professor of Music Theory (Ear Training)

The Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University seeks a passionate educator and an extraordinary musician to be appointed to the rank of Assistant Professor of Music Theory and teach Ear Training beginning August 2026.

• Working as part of a team to teach all levels of ear training within our undergraduate and graduate curricula, including developing advanced electives in musicianship techniques and theory graduate seminars
• Serving on departmental, school, and university committees
• Participating in departmental reviews and curriculum development
• Maintaining an active profile of scholarship, composition, and/or performance

Qualified applicants will be able to document successful teaching experience at the collegiate level and an active profile of scholarship and/or artistic activities. A doctorate is preferred. Applicants should be familiar with current trends in aural skills pedagogy and have experience teaching classroom ear training.
