Main Purpose of JobSubstitute teacher aides are responsible for implementing student instructional programs and daily schedules as directed by the teacher. Candidates must comply with and support MSD's regulations and policies and be available on an on‑call basis.
Position Duties- Accommodate and follow each behavior support plan for individual students, including daily self‑care, assist with arrival and dismissal, and supervise students during off‑campus instruction.
- Provide a safe environment for students at all times.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of student and school personnel information.
- Demonstrate exceptional organizational skills, effective classroom management, strong written communication, and experience working with a diverse student population, including underserved students.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Fluency in ASL and written English required.
- Knowledge of students with additional disabilities and ability to teach students on different levels and with varying educational backgrounds required.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of Deaf Community preferred.
Special RequirementsNew hires are subject to a criminal background investigation at their own expense. Candidates will need to provide three letters of recommendation.

BenefitsContractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract, and work 30 or more hours a week (or an average of 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled.
The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost. You can also elect to enroll in dental, accidental death, and life insurance, but you will be responsible for the full premium for these benefits. Leave may be granted to a contractual employee who has worked 120 days in a 12‑month period. This leave accrues at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
