Position SummaryThe Cybersecurity/Information Technology faculty position supports the Cybersecurity and Information Technology programs and the strategic operation of the School of Technology, Trades, Business, and Hospitality. Faculty work as members of an instructional team of full‑ and part‑time colleagues to consistently deliver high quality instruction to students. This position will be required to teach in‑person.
Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesThe primary focus of full‑time faculty is on effective teaching and the closely related activities essential to the discharge of this obligation. These activities include academic assessment, compliance with state, federal and local laws and regulations, curriculum development, implementation of new pedagogical delivery techniques, service on department, campus or college committees, student outreach, strategies for student success, general student advising and professional development.
- Teach core courses in cybersecurity, information security, information technology, or related fields. Facilitate student mastery of core learning outcomes using scholarly tools. Contribute to the development, planning, and implementation of a high‑quality curriculum. Actively engage students in critical thinking, meta‑cognitive processes, and advancement of critical communication skills. Model and cultivate open‑minded inquiry, an appreciation for diverse perspectives, and creative problem‑solving. Attend and participate in department meetings, commencement, convocation, time‑sensitive meetings called by administration, student open houses, orientations, and administrative days.
Maintain current knowledge and evidence‑based educational practices for courses/subjects taught. Uphold and contribute to the Frederick Community College Strategic Plan. Demonstrate positive attitudes and use effective human‑relations skills with students, colleagues, administrators, and community members. Perform other work‑related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or Information Security, or Bachelor’s Degree in one of those disciplines with industry‑recognized credentials or certifications.
- Experience teaching in areas related to Cybersecurity, or previous work experience related to Cybersecurity (preferred), networking, or IT.
- Experience in teaching or training in Cybersecurity and/or networking. Industry‑recognized credentials or certifications such as A+, Network+, Security+, CySA+, or Pen Test+. Ability to deploy cutting‑edge software in teaching Cybersecurity (preferred). Adaptability in diverse instructional modes related to both classroom instruction and distributed learning. Familiarity with Learning Management Systems.
Schedule determined according to course necessity. Courses are offered during the day, evenings, or online.
