The University of Maryland Eastern Shore Department of Natural Sciences invites applications for a 12‑month, full‑time, grant‑funded faculty position in ecological numerical modeling. The position begins January
2026 and may be renewed if funds are available.

• Develop a program in ecological numerical modeling
• Conduct ADCP, wave, and water quality observations in the Maryland Coastal Bays
• Run finite‑volume coastal ocean modeling and Ce‑Qual‑ICM water quality modeling
• Co‑supervise graduate and undergraduate students
• Perform other related duties as assigned

• Ph.D. in Oceanography or Marine Sciences (ABD considered with expected completion before appointment)
• Experience in oceanography observational skills
• Experience in ecological or water‑quality numerical modeling

• Extended periods of standing, bending, stooping, or sitting at a desk
• May require lifting up to 25 lbs
• Requires communication with a variety of internal and external constituents
• Requires operation of various office equipment

• Experience running numerical ocean models such as FVCOM or Ce‑Qual‑ICM
• Experience supervising undergraduate students
