The University of Maryland Eastern Shore Department of Natural Sciences invites applications for a 12‑month, full‑time, grant‑funded faculty position in ecological numerical modeling. The position begins January
2026 and may be renewed if funds are available.

- Develop a program in ecological numerical modeling
- Conduct ADCP, wave, and water quality observations in the Maryland Coastal Bays
- Run finite‑volume coastal ocean modeling and Ce‑Qual‑ICM water quality modeling
- Co‑supervise graduate and undergraduate students
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- Ph.D. in Oceanography or Marine Sciences (ABD considered with expected completion before appointment)
- Experience in oceanography observational skills
- Experience in ecological or water‑quality numerical modeling
- Extended periods of standing, bending, stooping, or sitting at a desk
- May require lifting up to 25 lbs
- Requires communication with a variety of internal and external constituents
- Requires operation of various office equipment
- Experience running numerical ocean models such as FVCOM or Ce‑Qual‑ICM
- Experience supervising undergraduate students
