long‑term substitute teachers are responsible for demonstrating teaching competencies, effective classroom management, and positive personal qualities. The role ensures that all students receive equal instructional opportunities and fosters a classroom environment that is challenging, dynamic, and comprehensive.
essential functions- plan and deliver instruction for students with appropriate lesson plans.
- create a conducive classroom environment that maximizes learning time.
- employ a variety of teaching techniques and instructional resources to implement the approved curriculum.
- use assessment to promote student growth in intellectual, physical, social, and emotional areas.
- maintain fair, firm, and consistent behavior, promoting student self‑discipline.
- communicate effectively with students, parents, staff, and the community.
- guide learning toward school system goals by following board policies and procedures.
- assist administration and staff in achieving the school’s mission with ethical professional standards.
- continuously improve professional competencies.
- supervise students across various school settings.
- maintain accurate records.
- monitor proper use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities.
- maintain regular and predictable attendance.

required qualifications education, training and experience- associate’s degree or 60 college credits.

moderate noise typical of school classrooms and offices, including computer use, printers, phones, and conversations.
preferred qualifications education, training and experience- bachelor’s or master’s degree from an accredited institution.
- outstanding written and oral communication skills.
- capability to perform the essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations.
- msde issued professional teacher certificate with appropriate content endorsement.
- familiarity with fcps policies, goals, and programs.
