LJB Engineering Company, a national engineering consulting firm, is seeking a full‑time Senior Field Inspector for the Washington, DC area. The project will begin in September 2026. The role requires a minimum of eight years of experience on major construction projects, strong analytical and communication skills, and a collaborative spirit. Compensation ranges from $90,000 to $130,000, depending on experience, certifications, and market conditions.

- Conduct construction inspections and serve as field engineer, chairing or attending progress meetings, and producing meeting minutes and submittal reviews.
- Prepare detailed daily and weekly inspection reports, including photographs, and upload them to Project Online.
- Oversee completion of geotechnical investigations in soil and rock geology and perform rock mapping for tunnels and slopes.
- Coordinate and review materials testing to ensure compliance with contract documents.
- Manage interactions with utilities, approval agencies, and other stakeholders for scheduling, risk workshops, and health & safety matters.
- Maintain tracking sheets, RFIs, RFQs, CCOs, submittals, deficiency logs, and ensure timely resolution of issues.
- Provide feedback on construction schedule submissions and enforce contract requirements.
- Track and verify red‑line drawings with the contractor and maintain documentation accuracy.
- Monitor health and safety protocols, raise concerns, and submit incident reports when necessary.
- Communicate technical and non‑technical information effectively in written and verbal form.
- Work in the field with shift rotations including weekday, night, and weekend shifts.
- Perform additional duties as required.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (master’s degree preferred).
- 8+ years of relevant experience.
- Experience on tunnel and trenchless projects in Canada and the U.S.
- Strong problem‑solving, decision‑making, teamwork, and independent judgment skills.
- Effective communication with colleagues, contractors, and clients.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate across disciplines.
