Position Overview
Lockheed Martin Aeronautics is seeking an Early Career Flight Test Discipline Engineer to support Naval Air Station Patuxent River F‑35 weapons flight test. This onsite role involves weapons flight test planning and execution within a fast‑paced, dynamic environment. Responsibilities include assisting in the development of weapon flight environment and system integration test plans, participating in real‑time control‑room activities during test execution, and distributing, analyzing, and reporting data acquired during test missions/events.
Aircraft system troubleshooting and failure resolution to maintain mission capability are also required, with travel, overtime, and weekend work possible.
- Provide on‑site support for weapons flight test planning and execution.
- Assist in the development of weapon flight environment and system integration test plans.
- Participate in real‑time control‑room activities during test execution.
- Distribute, analyze, and report data captured during test missions and events.
- Troubleshoot aircraft systems and resolve failures to ensure test assets remain mission‑capable.
- Perform travel, overtime, and weekend work as required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Aeronautical Engineering.
- U.S. Citizen with eligibility for a government security clearance.
- Position requires special facility access.
- Experience with F‑35 or other weapon systems.
- Familiarity with Integrated Air Defense Systems (IADS).
- Coding experience (e.g., Matlab, Python, SQL, VBA).
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Secret clearance with Investigation or CV date within the last 5 years.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen; government security clearance required.
- Work schedule:
4‑day, 10‑hour days with 3 days off per week.
- Annual base salary range (California, Massachusetts, New York, Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington, Washington D.C.): $60,200 - $106,030.
