Transportation Engineer I – Traffic (Grade 14, 8439)

Baltimore City, Hanover, or any SHA District Office statewide.

Nature of WorkThis is an entry level position. Employees assigned in the Transportation Engineer Career Program may be responsible for various traffic-related functions, including:
- Assisting in meeting project goals and developing alternatives.
- Attending public meetings and evaluating design criteria against project constraints.
- Performing constructability reviews and designing roadway plans.
- Conducting construction inspections for proposed roadway improvement projects.
- Providing traffic/travel demand information and conducting or reviewing traffic engineering analysis.
Education:
Possession of a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, or agricultural engineering from an accredited college or university. Persons currently registered as Professional Engineers in the State of Maryland, or in a state with comparable requirements, are considered to have met the education requirements.
Experience:
None required.

Required DocumentsEmployees in this classification may be assigned duties that require operation of a motor vehicle. Applicants must list their motor vehicle operator license number and expiration date in the application.
