Team Leader (Transportation Engineer Manager I)

We are hiring a Team Leader (Transportation Engineer Manager I) to lead the Traffic Safety Engineering Team within the Traffic Development and Support Division.
ResponsibilitiesProvide leadership and day‑to‑day management of the Traffic Safety Engineering Team. Evaluate safety benefits and impacts of transportation projects and develop recommendations to improve safety. Analyze crash data, identify patterns, and recommend safety improvements aligned with Maryland State Highway Administration and Federal Highway Administration safety goals. Serve as safety coordinator, oversee the Highway Safety Improvement Program, and develop the annual highway safety report.
Qualifications- Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited college or university.
- Experience: Minimum seven (7) years of professional engineering experience. Three‑half (3 ½) years of that experience must involve traffic engineering.
- Professional Engineering registration in the state of Maryland or a comparable state is preferred.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.
- Knowledge of national and state guidelines and standards related to transportation engineering and safety analysis for highway networks.
- Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate statewide programs and specific projects.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Strong database management and data analysis skills related to safety on Maryland roads.
