Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for an Electrical Estimator based in Frederick, MD. The Electrical Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for electrical construction projects, analyzing project requirements, and collaborating closely with project managers. Additional responsibilities include reviewing blueprints and specifications, assisting in bid proposals, and ensuring effective cost control throughout the project lifecycle.
Job Duties & Responsibilities- Review drawings, specifications, and bid documents to develop accurate electrical estimates
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for power distribution, lighting, low voltage, and related electrical systems
- Prepare complete cost estimates including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontracted work
- Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor bids (switch gear, lighting, controls, etc.)
- Analyze historical data to improve estimate accuracy
- Identify project risks, scope gaps, and value engineering opportunities
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and sales teams during bid preparation
- Assist with bid presentations and post-bid reviews
- Maintain organized estimating files and databases
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, and low voltage systems
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Proficiency with estimating software
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities
- Experience with Accubid
- 3+ years experience in electrical estimating or a related construction role
- Experience with design-build, negotiated projects, and conceptual estimating
- Familiarity with local electrical codes (NEC) and industry standards
- Field experience in electrical construction
