Lead Engineer – Electrical Hardware with BMS Focus

Towson, MD, United States – Hybrid

As Lead Engineer – Hardware BMS, you will be part of the Tools & Outdoor team, working in a hybrid role to design, develop, and improve Battery Management Systems (BMS) for a portfolio of high‑volume consumer power tools.

• Collaborate with Global Marketing, Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Purchasing teams to drive platform designs across multiple business units.
• Research, develop, and deliver electronic hardware designs for BMS, managing concurrent projects with high technical complexity.
• Lead the design of new products and platforms, modify existing designs, improve production techniques, and develop test procedures.
• Set project deliverables, timelines, and report status to team leaders.
• Identify and communicate major technical and schedule issues to leadership, driving corrective actions.
• Work with suppliers and serve as a member of cross‑functional product development teams.
• Ensure designs meet high‑volume production, fault‑tolerant, and EMC standards.
• Provide board‑level bring‑up and troubleshooting support using oscilloscopes, probes, DMMs, thermal cameras, and related equipment.

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
• 10+ years of experience in Battery Management Systems electronics design.
• Strong background in electronics design, embedded systems, and Li‑ion battery management.
• Proficiency in schematic capture, PCB, and simulation using Altium Designer or similar.
• Knowledge of PCB design best practices, design for EMC, and high‑volume production.
• Experience with board‑level bring‑up, troubleshooting, and testing equipment.
• Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
• Ability to travel globally as needed.
