Overview

Electric utility construction site coordinators work on-site to observe, report, and coordinate all construction activities within electrical substations, transmission lines, and distribution systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversight of electrical contractors working on above and below-grade electric transmission and distribution facilities and in electric substations and of civil contractors working in support of the electrical contractors.
  • Work includes construction of and modifications to below and above-grade facilities, including work in electrical substations and overhead facilities in private and public Right-Of-Way.
  • Experience working for an electric utility, as a substation electrician or as a lineman, would be relevant, beneficial, and preferred.
  • Experience performing construction inspection would also be relevant and beneficial.
  • Work can be anywhere where First Energy transmits or supplies energy to customers in the State of New Jersey, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Virginia, or Maryland.
  • The position entails working in the field, providing oversight of the contractor's operations. Administrative work is highly electronic in nature and necessary, which includes tracking contractors' labor and equipment, reviewing invoices and change orders, generating detailed daily reports, tracking, and doing inventory on materials, preparing and reviewing switching orders, and anything else to coordinate and facilitate the work.
  • Work routinely involves working 8 to 10-hour days and 5 to 6 days a week. Driving long distances to and from work are often involved.
  • Use of fire-retardant clothing and personal protective equipment is required, and said clothing and equipment are provided.
  • Use of a company vehicle for work is required with adherence to all company vehicle policies.
Qualifications & Skills
  • High school diploma or Equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Flexibility with work hours, must be able to work long hours, nights, and weekends when necessary.
  • Knowledge of electrical substations and electrical transmission and distribution systems.
  • Ability to interact and communicate with others in a professional and effective manner.
  • Ability to write technically on subject matter.
  • Ability to read and understand all pertinent documents, including plans, specifications, and scope documents.
  • Ability to perform all basic engineering math.
  • Ability to use a computer and computer programs at a high level, such as Microsoft Office, Adobe, Email, etc.
  • Ability to execute and pass all training.
  • Experience working in the Construction/Electrical/Utility field.
  • Position requires a background check and training.
Physical & Environmental Requirements

Construction Site Coordinators must be able to work on-site in an outdoor setting with various types of terrain. This position requires walking, bending, and standing throughout the workday.

Pay Transparency:
In accordance with local law, the range below is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Actual compensation will vary based on specific relevant experience, education, certifications, and other compensable factors.

  • Salary Range: $50-$75 per hour, plus per diem when eligible.
