Annual Salary Range: $85K - $115K based on experience
Position SummaryThe BIM / Prefabrication Manager is responsible for leading and integrating the company's Building Information Modeling (BIM), Virtual Design & Construction (VDC), and Prefabrication operations for mechanical and plumbing projects. This role oversees project modeling, coordination, spool drawing development, fabrication production, quality control, and delivery to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget.
The BIM / Prefabrication Manager serves as the primary liaison between Preconstruction, Project Management, Field Operations, and the Fabrication Shop to maximize prefabrication opportunities and improve project execution through technology and proactive planning.
BIM & Design Management- Lead all BIM, VDC, and design coordination activities for mechanical and plumbing projects.
- Develop and maintain BIM standards, procedures, workflows, and best practices.
- Create and manage detailed 3D models using Revit, AutoCAD, and Navisworks.
- Generate fabrication spool drawings, shop drawings, installation drawings, and assembly drawings from BIM models.
- Coordinate plumbing, piping, and mechanical systems with other trades.
- Conduct clash detection reviews and lead coordination meetings with clients and project teams.
- Maintain BIM documentation, coordination logs, and RFI tracking.
- Support Project Managers, Estimators, and Field Teams throughout all phases of construction.
- Ensure all drawings are accurate, constructible, and fabrication ready.
- Manage all fabrication shop operations from spool drawing release through fabrication and delivery.
- Develop and maintain production and delivery schedules based on project requirements.
- Ensure fabricated assemblies meet project specifications, quality standards, and applicable codes.
- Monitor production rates, labor productivity, and shop performance.
- Coordinate manpower, materials, equipment, and tooling requirements.
- Collaborate with field teams to ensure fabrication priorities align with installation schedules.
- Track production metrics and provide feedback for estimating and future planning.
- Serve as the primary point of accountability for BIM and Prefabrication performance.
- Work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, and Field Leadership to support project success.
- Monitor budgets, fabrication costs, forecasting, and labor productivity.
- Identify and resolve design, fabrication, and scheduling challenges.
- Promote Lean construction practices and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain accurate reporting and project documentation.
- Promote a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
- Ensure compliance with company safety policies and OSHA requirements.
- Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions when necessary.
- Supervise, train, mentor, and develop BIM and fabrication personnel.
- Foster teamwork, accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in BIM/VDC, mechanical or plumbing construction, prefabrication, fabrication management, or related construction management.
- Advanced proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and Navisworks.
- Demonstrated ability to create and manage BIM models for mechanical and plumbing systems.
- Ability to independently create fabrication spool drawings, shop drawings, and installation drawings from BIM models.
- Strong understanding of plumbing, piping, fabrication, and construction processes.
- Experience coordinating multi-trade BIM models and conducting clash detection reviews.
- Ability to read, interpret, and develop construction and fabrication drawings.
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience managing a fabrication shop or prefabrication department.
- Experience leading BIM/VDC teams.
- Knowledge of Lean Construction principles.
- Construction Management degree or equivalent industry experience.
- Experience with ERP and project scheduling software.
Directly supervises BIM Designers, Modelers, Fabrication Technicians, and Shop Personnel.
This position works in both office and fabrication/construction environments and may require occasional visits to jobsites. Exposure to varying temperatures, noise, dust, and industrial conditions may occur.
ScheduleThis is a salary position. Days and Hours of work are Monday through Friday 7:00AM - 3:00PM. Additional hours, weekends, or travel may be required to support project schedules and fabrication operations.
