At ADTEK, our people are our promise and the foundation of our continued success. We are seeking a Structural CAD Technician to join our cold-formed / light gauge steel department in Frederick, MD. This position offers an opportunity to develop your technical skills while contributing to a variety of structural design projects.

What You'll Do
Prepare and Coordinate Construction Documents

  • Revise structural drawings based on engineer markups and redline comments.
  • Set up project drawings and organize plan, detail, and section sheets.
  • Coordinate plan references, detail callouts, and section numbering throughout drawing sets.
  • Apply company drafting standards and utilize standard structural details for project documents.
  • Assist with the production of complete contract documents for simple and moderately complex projects.

Develop Structural Details and Drawing Content

  • Select and incorporate appropriate standard details for project requirements.
  • Determine locations for sections and apply standard section details where appropriate.
  • Create non-standard details and sections with guidance from engineers.
  • Organize drawing content to ensure clarity, consistency, and constructability.

Support Quality and Project Delivery

  • Review completed work for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to company standards.
  • Incorporate review comments and lessons learned into future project work.
  • Deliver assigned projects within established deadlines.
  • Communicate workload concerns and scheduling needs with project leadership.
  • Collaborate with engineers and other team members to support successful project completion.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

What We're Looking For
We're seeking a detail-oriented professional who is eager to learn, contribute to a collaborative team environment, and grow within a structural engineering practice.

Experience

  • 1-3 years of CAD drafting experience in building design, structural engineering, architecture, or a related field.
  • General understanding of construction drawings and project documentation.
  • Experience with structural drafting and cold-formed steel projects is a plus.

Education

  • High school diploma required.
  • Associate degree or technical training in CAD, drafting, engineering technology, or a related field preferred.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD required.
  • Ability to interpret and prepare construction drawings.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet project deadlines.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Salary: The salary range for this position is an estimate of $22-$27/per hour. A final compensation offer will be based on factors including an individual's skill set, experience, knowledge, licensure and certifications.
