Maintenance Engineer
Apex Systems is looking to hire an ONSITE Maintenance Engineer for our client based out of Hagerstown, MD.
This assignment is anticipated to be a 6-month contract with strong potential for extension; however, Apex Systems cannot guarantee the length of this assignment.
This will also have a first-shift Monday–Friday schedule. This role supports a multi-shift manufacturing operation, and occasional support outside of normal business hours may be required.
Responsibilities:- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on equipment reliability, maintenance effectiveness, and operational performance.
- Support the deployment and sustainment of professional maintenance principles, methodologies, and best practices throughout the organization.
- Analyze equipment performance data, maintenance trends, and downtime events to identify improvement opportunities.
- Lead root cause analysis efforts and implement corrective actions to reduce recurring equipment failures.
- Develop and improve preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance strategies.
- Evaluate equipment and machine components to improve lifecycle performance, reliability, and maintainability.
- Create, validate, and optimize standard maintenance procedures and work instructions.
- Maintain, update, and control technical drawings, schematics, and equipment documentation.
- Support machine life extension efforts through engineering analysis and reliability improvements.
- Coordinate activities across maintenance, operations, engineering, and other functional groups to improve equipment performance.
- Participate in capital projects, equipment upgrades, and manufacturing improvement initiatives.
- Promote lean manufacturing, loss reduction, waste elimination, and continuous improvement practices.
- Support implementation of maintenance tools, systems, and processes that improve operational efficiency.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- 5+ years of technical experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience leading or supporting engineering projects involving mechanical, electrical, industrial, controls, or manufacturing systems.
- Strong understanding of maintenance and reliability methodologies, including preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance.
- Experience performing root cause analysis and using data to drive reliability improvements.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics, prints, and technical documentation.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across departments.
- Strong organizational, prioritization, and time-management abilities.
- Minimum of 8 years of combined post-secondary education and manufacturing experience in lieu of the degree requirement.
- Experience with lean manufacturing, TPM, World Class Manufacturing, or continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience with reliability engineering, equipment lifecycle management, and maintenance planning.
- Knowledge of CMMS or maintenance management systems.
- Experience supporting highly automated manufacturing equipment and production systems.
