Job Summary
The Stage Technician position is primarily responsible for assisting all aspects of technical theatre for the Weinberg Center, including stage lighting, audio, and rigging. Duties include acting as a technical consultant for users, inspecting, repairing, replacing, and inventorying production equipment under the supervision of the Technical Manager, and assisting with load‑in, set‑up, and load‑out of all performances. Additional responsibilities involve minor facility maintenance, inventory and refurbishment of technical supplies, and attending selected rehearsals, performances, and functions of the Center.
The position is part‑time and reports to the Technical Manager.
- Assists with operation and maintenance of all stage lighting, audio, and rigging systems.
- Assists with load‑in and set‑up of all performances.
- Acts as technical consultant for users of the Center in the absence of the Technical Manager or Assistant Technical Manager.
- Attends select rehearsals and performances.
- Assists with physical plant maintenance and repair.
- Takes all city‑mandated trainings and abides by all safety procedures outlined by the Technical Manager.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education And/Or Experience- High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED).
- Two (2) years of progressive experience.
- Proven ability to work independently and under pressure.
- Ability to follow direction.
- Punctuality.
- Ability to complete training courses as mandated by the City.
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to adapt to change.
- Ability to work varying hours as needed to accommodate production schedule, which will include evenings and weekends.
- Previous technical theater experience.
- Experience in sound engineering.
While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is regularly required to move about the stage area to set up and tear down stage equipment. The incumbent is regularly required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and sometimes perform work in dark and confined spaces. The incumbent must communicate effectively using the English language and distinguish audible communication.
Hands are frequently used to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The incumbent must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
The incumbent must be able to maintain a productive work level for long periods of time.
The work environment requires the incumbent to work regularly in high, precarious places, which may include confined spaces and open work environments (no walls or doors). The environment may regularly include dust and/or airborne particles and be void of natural lighting. While performing the duties of the job, the incumbent is regularly exposed to risk of electrical shock. The employee regularly works in historic buildings with stairs and no elevators.
