The Opportunity

The Vice President, Finance is a pivotal leadership role at MFB, reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer. This is the senior operational finance leader responsible for translating organizational strategy into financial plans, performance insights, and scalable operations—bridging strategy and execution. This leader is also a steward of organizational culture—modeling equity‑aligned leadership and helping to shape an environment where team members feel safe, seen, supported, and empowered to succeed.

The VP, Finance owns budgeting, forecasting, financial planning & analysis (FP&A), and organization‑wide financial performance, ensuring that programs, operations, and growth initiatives are financially viable, measurable, and aligned with mission impact. Equally important, this leader drives cross‑functional change—ensuring that financial plans, systems, and processes are not only designed effectively, but adopted consistently across the organization.

Reporting to the CFO and directly managing the Controller, the VP, Finance will serve as a trusted financial partner across MFB’s program, operations, development, and executive teams.

Key areas of responsibility include:
  • Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Leadership: Own annual budgeting, rolling forecasts, and long‑range financial planning. Develop financial models to support program growth, funding scenarios, and operational decisions. Establish KPIs and performance tracking frameworks across the organization.
  • Strategic Translation & Decision Support: Convert organizational strategy into actionable financial insights and trade‑offs. Provide forward‑looking analysis on risks, opportunities, and resource allocation. Support executive decision‑making with clear, data‑driven recommendations. Frame financial implications of key initiatives, including full cost and opportunity cost.
  • Change Leadership & Organizational Transformation: Lead cross‑functional change initiatives that improve financial planning, performance, and decision‑making. Drive adoption of new processes, systems, and ways of working across departments. Apply a structured, project‑management‑oriented approach to implementation—establishing clear ownership, timelines, and success measures. Champion equity‑aligned practices in how change is designed and implemented, ensuring transparency, inclusive engagement, and that impacts on teams are thoughtfully considered.
  • Operational Finance & Accountability: Lead organization‑wide budgeting processes across departments. Monitor financial performance, identifying variances and driving accountability. Embed financial discipline into day‑to‑day decision‑making across teams.
  • Systems & Infrastructure Leadership: Own financial planning systems, reporting tools, and performance dashboards. Partner with the Controller on ERP optimization and data integrity. Drive scalable finance processes that support growth and organizational complexity.
  • Cross‑Functional Partnership: Serve as a trusted financial partner to program, operations, development, and executive teams. Translate financial data into actionable insights for non‑finance leaders. Ensure financial considerations are embedded early in organizational initiatives.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Lead and develop the Controller and broader finance team. Build strong accountability structures and performance expectations. Actively cultivate an inclusive, high‑performing team culture where individuals feel valued, supported, and accountable for results. Foster a thriving team culture grounded in shared ownership, deep collaboration, and a commitment to growing better together.
