Axle is looking to add a driven, flexible, organized, and meticulous Histology Laboratory Manager to our dynamic team at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), Integrated Research Facility (IRF) in Frederick, MD
.

Responsibilities
  • Provide services required to support animal studies, such as assisting the Federal Task Leader with leading a team of histology professionals tasked with supporting facility pathologists in the performance of necropsies and preparing histology slides for analysis.
  • Identify and troubleshoot common problems relating to laboratory methodology and instrumentation under the direction of the Senior Veterinary Pathologist and oversee organization and management of digital pathology database.
  • Schedule staff to assist with necropsies and complete histology work in the laboratory.
  • Operate in the BSL-4 laboratory, conducting histology, immunohistochemistry and in situ hybridization protocols.
  • Develop and optimize new protocols as requested by the Senior Pathologist to support research staff.
  • Identify and troubleshoot common problems relating to laboratory methodology and instrumentation under the direction of the Senior Veterinary Pathologist.
Qualifications / Experience
  • Minimum of a B.S. degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of 5 years histology experience with Histotechnologist (HTL) certification.
  • Previous recent BSL-3 or BSL-4 (preferred) experience required.

Salary

This role has a market-competitive salary with an anticipated base compensation range listed below. Actual salaries will vary depending on a candidate’s experience, qualifications, skills, and location.

Salary Range

$85,000 - $95,000 USD
