Position Summary

The Human Resources Intern will support the Human Resources efforts in recruiting, talent acquisition, onboarding, and employee administration. This position is ideal for an individual interested in building a career in Human Resources while gaining hands‑on experience in a fast‑paced, highly regulated manufacturing environment.

This is a part‑time, hourly non‑exempt W‑2 position expected to work approximately 16–24 hours per week
. This position will require you to work on‑site at our Frederick office. The schedule may be flexible based on business needs and the candidate's availability, as approved by management.

The intern will play an important role in identifying qualified candidates, coordinating interviews, facilitating onboarding, maintaining employee records, and ensuring a positive candidate and employee experience. This position requires exceptional organizational skills, professionalism, confidentiality, and attention to detail.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Post and maintain job openings across recruiting platforms.
  • Source qualified candidates through Linked In, Indeed, Zip Recruiter, Handshake, and other recruiting channels.
  • Review resumes and applications against job requirements.
  • Screen candidates for minimum qualifications and cultural fit.
  • Conduct initial phone and video screening interviews.
  • Coordinate interviews between candidates and hiring managers.
  • Maintain candidate pipelines using the Applicant Tracking System (ATS).
  • Communicate professionally with applicants throughout the hiring process.
  • Schedule interviews and send confirmations.
  • Perform reference checks when requested.
  • Assist with recruiting events, career fairs, and internship programs.
  • Track recruiting metrics, including time‑to‑fill, applicant volume, interview‑to‑offer ratio, and offer acceptance rate.
Candidate Management
  • Organize resumes by department and position.
  • Update applicant statuses in the ATS.
  • Prepare interview packets and evaluation forms.
  • Draft candidate communications.
  • Coordinate interview feedback from hiring managers.
  • Ensure timely follow‑up with all applicants.
  • Maintain confidentiality of applicant information.
Employee Onboarding (30%)
  • Coordinate background checks and pre‑employment screenings.
  • Collect and verify employment documentation.
  • Prepare offer letters and onboarding paperwork.
  • Coordinate I‑9 and employment eligibility verification.
  • Assist with E‑Verify submissions (if applicable).
  • Schedule new hire orientation sessions.
  • Coordinate introductions with department managers.
  • Ensure all required compliance documents are completed before an employee's first day.
  • Set up employee personnel files.
  • Assist with onboarding checklists.
  • Track completion of required training modules.
  • Coordinate onboarding with IT, payroll, and department managers.
Human Resources Administration (15%)
  • Maintain employee files.
  • Update HRIS records.
  • Organize confidential HR documents.
  • Maintain training records.
  • Assist with HR reporting and analytics.
Compliance & Confidentiality (5%)
  • Protect confidential employee information.
  • Maintain compliance with company policies.
  • Follow state and federal employment regulations.
  • Support MCA regulatory compliance related to employee records.
Required Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in:
  • Human Resources
  • Business Administration
  • Organizational Leadership
  • Communications
  • or a related field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Forms) and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Comfortable learning new software systems.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Professional demeanor and strong interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous office or administrative experience.
  • Familiarity with Linked In Recruiter, Indeed, or similar recruiting platforms.
  • Experience with Microsoft Teams, Google Workspace, or HRIS software.
  • Interest in Human Resources as a long‑term career.
