IT Specialist​/Network Technician

Position: IT Specialist 2 / Network Technician 4

Location:

Greater Frederick area or Western MD region.

• Identify, gather, and review requirements for the design and implementation of wired/wireless LANs.
• Perform site surveys to design the network and identify device placement and required materials for wired/wireless LANs.
• Ensure operation and maintenance of the IT and network infrastructure systems.
• Install, configure, maintain, and reliably operate computer systems, servers, and networks, contributing to overall performance, security, and availability of the IT environment.
• Test and evaluate wired and wireless networks to confirm performance and security against established thresholds.
• Diagnose and resolve network-related issues; install network hardware, implement configurations, and provide end‑user support.
• Configure, implement, and operate IT and network applications for management and orchestration in production, lab, staging, and test environments.
• Manage and assign relevant IP space in coordination with other systems across the customer enterprise.
• Meet with customers regularly to report on orchestration implementation status and overall network health.
• Perform direct down‑trace configuration, troubleshooting, and touch labor; provide input for local IT personnel in network maintenance.
• Collaborate with the technical team to implement base configuration files for device changes.
• Develop, maintain, and update technical documentation such as enterprise architecture, application/system design, and network architecture.
• Support fielding, maintenance, and operation of CCTV and VTC systems.
• Support 24/7 operations, including shift and weekend work.

• Must be eligible to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance or Public Trust clearance.
• High school diploma plus specialized training, or 6+ years of experience; or an equivalent combination of education, professional training, or experience.
• DoD 8570 IAT Level I or Level II compliant (additional network certifications such as CCNA, CWNP are a plus).
• Experience in general networking, network administration, upgrades, and operations.
• Good technical writing skills and experience producing reports with Microsoft Office Suite, including Visio.
• Understanding of telecommunications room (TR), CAT 6, crimps, and wiring standards; BICSI certification is a plus.
• Licensed and able to drive a vehicle.
• Ability to climb a 10 ft ladder and lift at least 40 lb.
• Experience with Aruba networking equipment is a plus.
