Senior Kubernetes Cloud Engineer

Quevera is seeking a Senior Kubernetes Cloud Engineer to support mission‑critical systems in a TS/SCI FSP environment. This role requires deep technical expertise in Kubernetes and AWS EKS, strong leadership skills, and the ability to mentor engineers while overseeing production cloud systems. You will guide technical decisions, maintain production readiness, troubleshoot high‑impact issues, and collaborate closely with the Technology Manager and Agile teams to deliver secure, highly available solutions.

Requirements

Required – Must have a current TS/SCI Polygraph clearance to apply for role. Only those with a current TS/SCI with Poly clearance will be considered.

Duties and Responsibilities Technical Leadership & Team Support
  • Serve as a senior technical leader and subject matter expert for Kubernetes and AWS cloud engineering
  • Mentor, coach, and support a team of engineers in their daily technical work
  • Act as a primary escalation point for complex production issues
  • Lead and contribute to Agile ceremonies
  • Delegate and review engineering assignments to maintain strong production readiness
Kubernetes & EKS Engineering
  • Build and manage Amazon EKS clusters, node groups, and IAM role assignments
  • Deploy and maintain Kubernetes workloads using kubectl, Helm, and Kustomize
  • Design and configure VPCs, subnets, and security groups optimized for secure and efficient EKS networking
  • Administer EKS‑managed add‑ons such as CoreDNS, kube‑proxy, and VPC CNI
  • Implement IAM Roles for Service Accounts (IRSA) for secure, least‑privilege access
Security, Secrets Management, and Compliance
  • Manage sensitive data using AWS Secrets Manager or Vault
  • Apply Kubernetes and AWS security best practices including RBAC, network segmentation, and hardened configurations
  • Partner with security teams to support audits, compliance, and continuous monitoring
Observability, Reliability & Operations
  • Set up and maintain logging using Cloud Watch and monitoring with Prometheus and Grafana
  • Monitor key metrics, SLIs, and trends to ensure stable and reliable production systems
  • Support reliability and performance needs to meet mission user expectations
  • Participate in on‑call support rotations and respond to high‑priority incidents
Automation, Tooling & Dev Ops
  • Use eksctl, AWS CLI, Git Hub Actions, and ArgoCD for automated provisioning and Git Ops workflows
  • Contribute to infrastructure‑as‑code automation and production‑level system development
  • Research new tools, cloud technologies, and optimizations to evolve the platform
  • Participate in Quevera’s Engineering Community of Practice and help shape engineering standards
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Software Architecture, or equivalent experience
  • Fourteen (14) or more years of engineering experience
  • Active TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph clearance
  • Strong hands‑on experience with Kubernetes and AWS EKS in production environments
  • Experience deploying containerized applications with kubectl, Helm, and Kustomize
  • Strong knowledge of AWS networking and IAM
  • Experience with observability tools such as Cloud Watch, Prometheus, and Grafana
  • Proficiency with CI/CD and Git Ops tools including Git Hub Actions, ArgoCD, eksctl, and AWS CLI
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across distributed systems, networking, and cloud applications
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to mentor engineering teams
