Systems Administrator

Role Overview

Systems Administrator SME responsible for providing network management and systems administration support to maintain the Agency’s High‑Performance Computing (HPC) infrastructure and HPC development environment. Must have SYS1 access and the Security+ certification.

• Experience using the Linux CLI and Linux tools.
• Develop scripts using Bash and Python.
• Perform system administration including installation, configuration, and support of COTS/GOTS/FOSS software in a large‑scale Linux cluster environment.
• Maintain network appliance clustered servers and applicable software with direct‑attached FC SAN storage.
• Use Red Hat Satellite to automate deployment, provisioning, and patching of relative Linux systems across physical, virtual, and cloud environments.
• Provide troubleshooting, customer interfacing, issue resolution, discrepancy tracking, and report generation.
• Familiarity with software frameworks for searching, monitoring, and analyzing big data such as Splunk and Elastic Stack.
• Configure Linux settings for storage, networking, load balancing, memory management, VMs, firewalls, and system monitoring.
• Apply corporate STE/STN security compliance policies, procedures, and tools.
• Support corporate SSP accreditation processes.
• Implement IaC principles and automation tools such as Ansible and Salt Stack.
• Configure and sustain VMware ESXi/virtualization environments.
• Leverage Atlassian Suite tools such as Jira and Confluence.
• Use system monitoring tools such as HPE One View and Nagios.
• Utilize containerization technologies such as Docker.
• Sanitize hardware, firmware, and/or software removed from the environment in accordance with USG policies.
• Manage Net Backup and/or tape backup systems and archiving.
• Operate ePolicy Orchestrator and McAfee security tools.

• Technical training, certification(s), or degree.
• 15+ years of related experience.
• Proficiency in Bash and Python scripting.
• Strong Linux system administration skills.
• Experience with large‑scale cluster environments.
• Knowledge of Red Hat Satellite and Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
• Experience with Windows and security compliance frameworks.
• Experience with IaC and automation frameworks such as Ansible or Salt Stack.

• Salary Range: $202,300 – $273,700 (dependent on experience, location, and contractual requirements)
