The Testing Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that the system meets functional, security, and quality standards before release.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in testing methodologies, quality assurance, and working within Agile environments. This position involves interacting with multiple stakeholders, including federal staff, contractors, and state IT teams to ensure the success of the UI modernization efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with software engineers and developers to ensure that all software defects are tracked, documented, and retested after fixes.
Quality Assurance and Documentation
  • Write detailed bug reports for issues found during testing and create comprehensive test plans as needed.
  • Peer review test plans written by development and/or QA teams to ensure thorough coverage.
  • Support the development and execution of testing strategies for new application releases and enhancements.
  • Ensure that all applications undergo regression testing after each release to verify that all functionalities work as expected after updates.
Collaboration and Communication
  • Participate in SCRUM teams alongside federal staff, contractors, and state IT representatives, contributing to the development of test cases and overall testing strategies.
  • Engage with key stakeholders to provide feedback on application readiness, defects, and testing progress during each Sprint and after each release.
  • Participate in Retrospectives to evaluate integrated teams' effectiveness and provide recommendations for improvements.
Performance Monitoring and Data Analysis
  • Support testing for the validation of data processing and secure data transfer between systems.
  • Assist in statistical data analysis and reporting to evaluate system performance, identifying discrepancies or errors for resolution.
  • Analyze system interfaces to ensure they work as expected across different platforms (on-premise, cloud, hybrid).
Support Continuous Improvement
  • Provide Tier 3 help desk support for state UI IT issues related to system performance, functionality, and user acceptance.
  • Provide feedback to improve testing processes, test automation coverage, and ensure more efficient testing workflows.
  • Develop and implement new testing tools and techniques to improve the overall software testing lifecycle.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in software testing, with expertise in both manual and automated testing processes.
  • Preferred Certifications in Software Testing: ISTQB, CSTE.
  • Experience with cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, etc.) and hybrid infrastructure environments.
  • Familiarity with Dev Ops processes and continuous integration (CI) testing pipelines.
  • Experience in working on government IT modernization projects, particularly in the context of UI or identity verification systems.
  • Experience in Agile/SCRUM environments, collaborating with development teams to ensure quality deliverables.
  • Strong knowledge of test case creation, defect management, and tracking tools…
