IT Specialist, Journeyman

Supporting PM C2 Transport;
Security Clearance:
Secret.

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or related scientific or technical discipline. Additional 4 years of IT experience at APG NEC or PEO/PM organizations may substitute for a Bachelor’s degree.

Certifications:

None required. Salary: 75K-100K annual, commensurate with education/experience.

Overview

The IT Specialist, Journeyman serves as a subject matter expert in IT support across the organization, providing critical analysis and evaluation of information technology matters. This role encompasses the initiation and development of IT projects, ensuring effective information systems management within the Command.

Key Responsibilities
  • IT Support and Expertise:
    • Provide comprehensive IT support for the organization or major components thereof.
    • Develop business cases and perform knowledge management and information assurance.
  • Project Leadership:
    • Lead projects that encompass the full scope of information systems management for the Command.
    • Oversee information technology tasks, including the review, analysis, and validation of electronic business operation tools and the implementation of IT resources (hardware/software).
  • System Integration and Implementation:
    • Facilitate the design and development of websites, databases, and other business systems integration initiatives.
    • Interface with higher headquarters, other Command sites, and business centers to implement procurement information systems technology.
  • Policy Assessment and Implementation:
    • Assess and implement IT policy to govern activities and provide guidance to management, staff, and customers.
    • Conduct audits of IT programs and policies; develop business cases and recommend enhancements to efficiency through emergent technologies.
  • Leadership and Representation:
    • Serve as the Lead Information Management Officer and Telephone Control Officer, representing the organization’s interests to service providers.
    • Lead projects in knowledge management and business process design tasks.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience (4 additional years in lieu of degree).
  • Proven experience in IT support and project management within a military or governmental context.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a focus on improving IT systems and processes.
