Business Intelligence Reporting Analyst​/Developer

Key Requirements

• Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of software development best practices.
• At least five years of experience in Cognos methodologies and development.
• Degree from an accredited college with a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Services, Business Management, Engineering, Project Management, Business, Public Administration, Communications, or a related field. May be substituted with relevant software development experience of five or more years.
• Develop and maintain Bl dashboards, reports and cubes based on business and technology requirements and industry standard best practices.
• Plan and coordinate data migrations between systems.
• Follow all required software development standards, change control procedures, and security requirements.
• Develop high quality deliverables.
• Ensure that the deliverables meet organization and performance requirements.
• Assist in the formulation of business and testing requirements.
• Coordinate and perform required unit, system, and performance testing. Works with other team members on User Acceptance testing and issue resolution.
• Ability to work both independently and participate as a member of a cross‑functional team.
• Ability to build relationships with project sponsors, stakeholders, other technical staff, vendors, and end users.
• Participate in continuous improvement activities by identifying and analyzing the effectiveness and efficiency of existing processes and develop strategies for improvements.
• Produce status reports and communications on a regular basis.
• Provide requested information to the business clients utilizing advanced reporting tools.
• Leverage analysis techniques to develop comprehensive reporting solutions.
• Design Data Warehouse components for solutions that take into consideration the value of performance, scalability, operability, flexibility, affordability, and ability to be audited.
• Devises and builds data processing jobs for the creation and maintenance of tables, views, and data marts.
• Designs and develops dimensional data models, ETL/ELT frameworks and processing, metadata management, operational data integration.
• Working knowledge or experience with SQL Server 2016+, SSAS, SSRS, and SSIS.
• Working knowledge or experience with Business Objects XI, Business Objects Web Intelligence.
• Working knowledge or experience with Tableau.
• Experience with Data Visualization.
• Skill in relational modeling.
• Manages the logical and physical design of a Bl data warehouse, including the creation of tables, views, procedures, packages and other database objects in support of OLAP cubes for analytics and system dashboards and reporting.
• Skill in the operation of computers and peripheral equipment.
• Skill in creative and analytic problem solving.
• Understanding of Data Warehousing principals, concepts, and architecture.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet project delivery dates.
• Ability to effectively analyze and manage requirements.
• Ability to visualize complex issues.
• Knowledge of personal computers, Microsoft Office suite of tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and MS Project.
• Knowledge of programming concepts and the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
• Ability to coordinate the work of a team with the work of other units within the Department of Research, Assessment and Accountability and other BCPS offices and departments.
• Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of users and team members.
