We are seeking an experienced Jira Administrator to support our defense contracting operations. The ideal candidate will bring proven experience from Department of Defense (DoD) defensive cyber operations (DCO) environments and deep expertise in Atlassian ecosystem management. This role requires strong technical skills combined with understanding of defense sector workflows and security requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Administer and maintain multiple Jira instances supporting classified and unclassified environments
- Configure workflows, custom fields, screens, and permission schemes aligned with DoD security protocols
- Manage user provisioning, groups, and role‑based access controls in accordance with security clearance levels
- Implement and maintain integration between Jira and other Atlassian tools (Confluence, Bitbucket, Bamboo)
- Develop and maintain custom dashboards, filters, and reports for stakeholder visibility
Process Improvement & Support
- Collaborate with DCO teams to optimize requirements management and change management workflows
- Design and implement automated workflows to streamline operations processes
- Provide tier 2/3 technical support for Jira-related issues and user training
Security Clearance
- Active SECRET clearance or ability to obtain within reasonable timeframe
Technical Experience
- 5+ years hands‑on Jira administration experience in enterprise environments
- Strong knowledge of Jira workflows, schemes, and advanced configuration
- Experience with Atlassian suite integration and marketplace apps
- Proficiency in JQL (Jira Query Language) and custom reporting
- Database management experience (preferably Postgre
SQL or Oracle) - Scripting capabilities (Groovy, Python, or Power Shell preferred)
DoD/Cyber Operations Background
- 3+ years experience in DoD defensive cyber operations or similar environment
- Familiarity with Dev Sec Ops , Configuration Control Boards, Steering Groups, and general Government IT bureaucracy
- Knowledge of DoD project management methodologies and processes
- Experience with Service Now integration
- Knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies
- Previous work supporting classified programs
- Experience with container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipeline integration
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
- DoDD 8140 IAT‑Level II Cybersecurity certification
- Atlassian administrative certifications strongly preferred
