Job DescriptionIDS is seeking a motivated and self‑starting Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) to support the Signals Analysis Division. This role focuses on maintaining compliance and strengthening the security posture of mission‑critical systems through the Risk Management Framework (RMF).
The ISSO will manage and maintain over 10 System Security Plans (SSPs) while supporting continuous monitoring and ensuring adherence to established security standards and policies.
Key Duties- Ensure the appropriate operational security posture is maintained for assigned information systems
- Support continuous monitoring of networks to identify and remediate security non‑compliance, vulnerabilities, and risks
- Apply consistent security processes and contribute to the organization’s continuous monitoring program
- Perform regular audits of systems to validate security controls and compliance status
- Assist the Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM) in preparing systems for periodic reaccreditation
- Maintain and manage System Security Plans (SSPs) and related RMF documentation
- Support the implementation of Defense‑in‑Depth strategies across enterprise environments
- Bachelor’s degree with five (5) years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree with three (3) years, or Associate’s degree (or 18 semester hours of military coursework/training in a computer‑related field) with seven (7) years, or High school diploma/GED with nine (9) years of relevant experience
- Experience as an ISSO or in a similar cybersecurity role
- Strong understanding of Defense‑in‑Depth principles and enterprise security architecture
- Experience applying NIST 800‑53 controls and Risk Management Framework (RMF) processes
- Familiarity with Secure Terminal Equipment (STE) / Secure Terminal Node (STN) requirements
- Experience supporting system security compliance, auditing, and accreditation processes
- Must possess an Information Assurance Manager (IAM) Tier I certification
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple systems and security plans simultaneously
- Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced, mission‑driven environment
Active TS/SCI with Polygraph required
Physical RequirementsEmployee may be required to occasionally lift and/or move moderate amounts of weight, typically less than 20 pounds, but may vary depending on the position. Regular and predictable attendance is essential.
