A leadership role managing the Meter Data Management System (MDMS), ensuring accurate, timely and audit‑compliant delivery point information, and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities- Lead projects and program activities for the MDMS, including upgrades, patches, fixes, and other system maintenance.
- Develop, implement, and maintain change control and testing processes for MDMS modifications and integrations.
- Perform system administration tasks: OS and database management, programming, data import/export, backups, documentation, maintenance, and security monitoring for high‑availability operation.
- Interact with metering personnel (engineers, specialists, analysts, technicians) to commission, troubleshoot, and maintain the MDM process.
- Coordinate with internal and external users and data providers to support billing, reconciliation, and settlements.
- Provision and administer meter channel, service point, and user accounts in the MDMS.
- Program MDMS functions, produce calculations, aggregations, data transfer files, or reports as needed.
- Identify and correct meter data anomalies to ensure data accuracy and quality.
- Maintain documentation of all MDMS database changes.
- Collaborate with the MDMS vendor and IT staff to ensure reliable operation of software, servers, and network.
- Develop and manage requirements, policies, procedures, documentation, and reporting tools for MDMS operation.
- Provide training to new MDAA employees and MDMS users.
- Participate in work groups (MITF, TMTS, GIS) and other metering data initiatives.
- Support transition and development of the MDM process for market participation.
- Develop and coordinate reports related to metering data and MDMS operation.
- Ensure compliance with NERC Cyber Security requirements and conduct audits and risk assessments.
- Develop process documentation and workflow models for improvements and efficiencies.
- Maintain compliance with company policies, regulations, and best practices (GA1).
- Work overtime as required; overtime is an essential function.
- Keep current knowledge of meter data management trends and new technologies; attend trainings and conferences.
- May be required to work irregular hours, be on‑call, and perform after‑hours maintenance or data acquisition.
- Travel occasionally as required (valid driver’s license).
- Demonstrate performance of all essential functions.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education and Training
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, or equivalent blend of experience and education.
- Training and/or experience with electric utility meter data management systems.
Knowledge, Skills, and Ability
- Apply IT principles and practices, including hardware, OS, software applications, troubleshooting, QA, security, and relational databases.
- Analyze, interpret, and resolve computer system and meter data problems with attention to detail.
- Working knowledge of demand and energy meters, recorders, and associated metering circuits.
- Organizational and project management skills.
- Leadership ability to guide and direct others in MDMS operation.
- Decision‑making, communication, teamwork, and collaboration skills.
- Maintain confidentiality and accurate record‑keeping.
- Learn new technology and maintain current relevance.
- Willing to work extra, irregular hours, evenings, weekends, and be called out if needed.
- Willing and able to maintain First Aid and CPR certification.
- Must reside within 60 minutes one‑way travel time of the base location.
