Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking Data Center Technicians to support our customers in multiple locations. This position requires the successful candidate to report to a site location. The position will help ensure overall availability and reliability to meet or exceed defined service levels of data center operations. It may involve participation in a primary responder rotation, which includes monitoring the data center infrastructure, coordinating response to operational incidents, and partnering with other teams to rapidly resolve issues that impact service availability.
Primary responder responsibilities may require evening, weekend, holiday, and/or night work to ensure our global data centers are operating at the highest levels of reliability for our customers.
- Perform server rack installations, hardware break‑fix on various components, troubleshoot network issues, and respond to operational incidents that impact service availability, escalating to senior technicians and management as needed or required.
- Serve as a primary contact point for both internal and external stakeholders, including engineers, software developers, vendors, and contractors.
- Perform on‑call duties and participate in scheduled maintenance and change management activities.
- Contribute to documentation and process improvement initiatives based on analysis of operational issues.
- Help train and onboard new team members.
- Take ownership of technical issues brought by the customer base, engaging other teams when needed to drive resolution.
- Diagnose and resolve problems at the root and step back to understand the broader context.
- Maintain service level agreements through proactive issue detection and reporting.
- Work shift schedule including days/nights/weekends/holidays and travel within and outside the regional work area; maintain a reliable personal vehicle and valid driver’s licence.
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds; sometimes group lifts for 41+ pounds.
- Work in a 24/7 environment and participate in primary responder rotation and after‑hours support as needed.
- Work in cramped, elevated, or noisy environments.
- Bend, lift, stretch, reach, stand, and walk for up to 8+ hours a day.
- Ascend and descend ladders, stairs, and gangways safely and without limitation.
- 2+ years of computer hardware troubleshooting and repair experience.
- 1+ year of computer networking experience.
- High school or equivalent diploma.
- Experience dealing effectively with customers during problem resolution and operating efficiently under pressure.
