Overview

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking an experienced program manager to join the operations team and lead the onboarding and training initiatives for new builders in AWS Data Centers. The role reports to the local business leadership and aligns with a global onboarding program. The ideal candidate will have training management experience, strong organizational skills, the ability to work through ambiguity, and the capacity to lead with informal authority.

The position focuses on designing, building, delivering, and measuring onboarding and training to improve the experience for new AWS Data Center community members worldwide.

Responsibilities
  • Deeply involved in the technical design of the onboarding and learning systems; manage complex technology initiatives, deliver critical solutions, and drive significant improvements while deploying new mechanisms.
  • Partner with teams within physical infrastructure to stay aligned with process changes and operational updates, and coordinate onboarding training activities.
  • Define, organize, and manage scheduling, logistics, and administration of cluster and globally planned virtual and in-person instructor-led training and onboarding activities across cross-functional teams, including coordinating volunteer instructors’ schedules.
  • Develop and monitor internal metrics, goals, and KPIs to drive continuous improvements to the end-to-end onboarding and training process.
  • Provide administration and support for Amazon’s proprietary web-based training platform related to safety, security, and job-critical functions, including issue design, enforcement, and troubleshooting.
  • Manage frequent, cluster-localized communications with new builders via emails, FAQs, messaging channels, forums, office hours, tickets, or similar mechanisms.
  • Facilitate employee account creation by collaborating with multiple essential teams to ensure a seamless arrival experience, including access levels and badge creation.
  • Play a crucial role in new-hire technology onboarding, including setting up laptops, installing essential software, and providing guidance for configuring communication tools; deliver an overview of the organization's technological infrastructure to help new hires transition into daily operations.
Basic Qualifications
  • 2+ years of program or project management experience
  • 3+ years of Computerized Maintenance Management System program experience
  • 3+ years of maintenance planner/scheduler experience in industrial maintenance, manufacturing, or distribution industries
  • 3+ years of advanced Microsoft Word and Excel experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, or 2+ years of Amazon RME (BB/3P) full-time experience
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule/shift, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays
  • 2+ years of project/program management experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a technology field
  • Experience developing and delivering presentations to large and diverse audiences
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of Lean principles and DMAIC methodology
  • Experience in MS Access and SQL
  • Experience in requirement gathering and ability to write clear and detailed requirement documents
  • Experience using Microsoft Project software
  • Experience with material handling systems (MHS) installation, operation and maintenance
  • Experience working in an analytical environment with cross-functional teams
  • Proven track record of effective decision making, ownership, and delivering results in a cross-functional role without formal authority
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to use data to back up assumptions and drive actions
  • Master’s degree or equivalent technology industry work experience
  • Experience with training management and Learning and Development generally
  • Ability to thrive in a high-energy environment where strategic and tactical activities run in parallel
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence across diverse teams
  • A technical background sufficient to interact with data center leaders and training professionals
  • Experience working with internationally distributed teams
