Amentum is seeking a motivated and experienced Linux Systems Administrator for a small, diverse team that provides end-to-end software, systems, and network engineering services to support Integrated Discovery Operations (IDO). You will lead, evolve, and maintain a dynamic, modern Dev Ops architecture, often based on open-source technology, to support software developers, phased system upgrades, compliance, and improvements aimed at ensuring continued execution of the IDO mission.
We aim to improve availability and reliability, reduce latency, and optimize performance, while maintaining the security posture.
- Design, maintain, and support operations and maintenance (O&M) activities of a large enclave comprised of various hardware, software, and network components to include server architecture, virtual machines, managed switches, NAS, VLANs, and VPNs. Develop and carry out strategies to migrate existing customers to new architecture and technology with minimal impact. Evaluate new technologies or equipment that can be added to Agency standard solutions.
- Responsible for user-level support, including interacting with system-savvy developers and analysts, resolving network, computer, and virtual system issues & anomalies.
- Maintain enclave documentation (network diagram, system names, IP addresses, barcodes, etc.); provide monthly activity report to include system outages.
- Network administration including installing, configuring, and maintaining net devices; configuring various routing protocols, troubleshooting multi-hop connectivity, throughput, and latency; setting up firewalls. Responsible for secure infrastructure and vulnerability corrections, data security, compliance, and backups and recovery. Maintain SSPs, STE/STN requirements via RMF, Netseer, SEAR logging, patching, IAVMs, McAfee, and UAM.
- Experience deploying and maintaining nginx; system monitoring platforms like OpenVAS, Prometheus and Grafana; SELinux and FIPS.
- Knowledge of Latte Art/Biscotti, Netseer, SEAR logging.
TS/SCI Poly
Minimum Years of ExperienceA Doctoral degree plus 7 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree plus 9 years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor's degree plus 11 years of relevant experience, or an Associate’s degree plus 13; or 18 semester hours of military coursework/training in a computer-related field plus 10 years of relevant experience, or a High School diploma/GED plus 15 years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications- Familiarity with Docker, MongoDB, and Elastic Search;
Ansible and Git Lab;
Red Hat Satellite. Working knowledge of software‑defined networks.
