Job Description

Onsite Federal Field Services Manager based in Washington, D.C. provides technical oversight and strategic direction for a team of Field Engineers and Service professionals. The role ensures the architectural maintenance and operational integrity of mission‑critical backhaul infrastructures, including ASTRO 25, WAVE VOIP, and related technologies, and leads the engineering community in adopting best practices for network design and operational excellence.

• Provide technical oversight and strategic direction for field service teams.
• Ensure architectural maintenance and operational integrity of mission‑critical backhaul infrastructures.
• Oversee field service technicians and technical system managers, ensuring secure and efficient management of IP networks for government agencies.
• Manage strategic planning for event builds and define implementation methodologies.
• Assist in architecture design and lifecycle management of ASTRO 25 backhaul networks and adjacent technologies.
• Create and maintain detailed network diagrams and technical drawings.
• Evaluate third‑party vendor hardware and oversee subcontractors to meet design requirements and schedules.
• Manage team resources and personnel assignments to fulfill contractual obligations.
• Conduct network topology assessments, performance reporting, and advanced diagnostic troubleshooting.
• Lead the engineering community in adopting best practices for network design and operational excellence.

• Proficiency in comprehensive network architecture and design methodologies.
• Advanced expertise in routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, ISIS, etc.) and MPLS solution design.
• In‑depth knowledge of LAN switching protocols and implementation.
• Technical proficiency with hardware from Juniper, Nokia, HP, and other leading vendors.
• Comprehensive understanding of transport media (Metro Ethernet, Frame‑Relay, SONET) and physical layer technologies (fiber, copper, microwave backhaul).
• Prior experience managing Motorola ASTRO 25 system architectures.
• Mastery of Microsoft Office Suite, Visio, and Google Workspace.
• Skillful use of command‑line and GUI interfaces for equipment provisioning and configuration.
• Familiarity with Network Management Applications (strongly preferred).
• Superior interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Commitment to collaboration and partnership with colleagues, customers, and vendors.
• Aptitude for mastering MSI internal processes, product portfolios, and network management solutions.
• Sophisticated knowledge of ASTRO 25 wide‑area voice and data systems, including OTAR/OTAP, MoM, and CAC‑PIV cybersecurity technologies.

• Subjects to high‑security areas governed by the US Department of Justice CJIS Security Policy and requires a stringent fingerprint background check.
• Must be a US citizen with ability to obtain required security clearance.
• Willing to obtain DHS Public Trust clearance.
• Must be onsite daily at the customer’s location in Washington, D.C.

• Bachelor's degree or 3+ years of experience in LMR, RF Systems, Radio Communications, Radio Frequency, Management, Motorola equipment, wired/wireless communication systems, IT systems, telecommunications, public safety, engineering, networking equipment, IP networking, solutions architecture, ASTRO 25, P25, WAVE VoIP, or military experience.

$90,000 – $120,000 USD (varies based on knowledge, skills, and experience).
