The Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs at the Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research and the National Cancer Institute at Frederick provide comprehensive professional EHS services to employees working in general offices, industrial shops, experimental research laboratories, and animal care environments. Work is performed within the offices of the EHS Directorate and on multiple campuses in various customer locations.
JOB SUMMARYThe Business Process Specialist IV is a senior-level professional responsible for analyzing, developing, implementing, and managing complex business processes and supporting systems to meet Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) operational and program needs. This role serves as a key liaison between EHS Applications, program staff, project teams, subject matter experts, and end users to ensure business processes and technology solutions are effective, sustainable, and aligned with organizational requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Develop and implement processes based on system capabilities and business needs.
- Analyze complex business processes or issues and recommend solutions using systems and data.
- Assist with the implementation of EHS systems processes, projects, and programs.
- Review existing business processes, and corresponding systems, for improvements and evolution.
- Analyze and manage system data associated with business processes and operational systems.
- Manage assigned systems and corresponding processes ensuring compliance with required governance requirements.
- Act as a program manager for assigned business processes and related systems.
- Resolve process or system conflicts or issues in a timely and systematic manner.
- Communicate project and/or system status or issues to the appropriate parties for timely resolution.
- Communicate process and/or system changes to end users in a timely and effective manner.
- Solicit feedback from end-users on business processes and system needs.
- Complete and/or oversee the data collection, preparation, input, and monitoring for assigned projects.
- Completes project tasks within defined time frames.
- Act as the liaison between the EHS Applications team, project team members, EHS program staff, and the end customer.
- Identify and interpret trends and patterns in datasets.
- Prepare and report on system and project data upon request or as defined within the project.
- Work with subject matter experts to develop and deliver training for EHS Safety programs.
- Possession of Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university according to the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) orfour (4) years relevant experience in lieu of degree. Foreign degrees must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency.
- In addition to the education requirement, a minimum of eight (8) years of related process or system administration, and/or project management experience is required.
- Ability to analyze process and document, look for improvements, efficiencies or discrepancies.
- Ability to analyze business processes and adapt for system or application configuration.
- Ability to develop a process from concept to completion engaging appropriate stakeholders.
- Ability to lead process improvement projects including collection of requirements, determination of tool and technical requirements, and implementation of defined solution(s).
- Advanced knowledge of application configurations and workflows.
- Ability to administer a project timeline to meet required deadlines.
- Ability to resolve and or respond to technical concerns or issues in an effective manner.
