$17.54 per hour

HCC is seeking Language Translators to accurately convert documents, audio recordings, and other materials from a source language into a target language. The role involves reviewing and editing translations to ensure precision, consistency, and preservation of the original format and context. The translator will collaborate and communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues to understand their needs and provide clear and accurate information.

Employees of Harford Community College must be residents of Maryland or the contiguous states of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, or the District of Columbia. Work is generally performed on the College campus unless otherwise specified.

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States, as the College does not offer Visa sponsorship for this position.

High school diploma or GED.

No prior experience necessary.

• Bilingual – Spanish/English
• Strong customer service skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Attention to detail
• Ability to work and cooperate with coworkers and supervisors at all levels
• Basic understanding of Microsoft Outlook
• Microsoft SharePoint and Teams experience is a plus

• Customer service experience preferred
• Experience in a translating capacity a plus
• Preference will be given to currently enrolled HCC students and alumni

Hours vary based on the needs of the department. Part-time, as-needed employees are limited to less than 500 hours in each fiscal year (July 1 – June 30).
