The Capital Project Manager translates business objectives to create robust project plans. They manage a portfolio of projects.
We are hiring a Capital Project Manager to execute end-to-end capital projects achieving business objectives, while complying with standard project management practices. They partner with technology, maintenance, and operations to bring maximum value through effective leadership of project scope, cost, and schedule from initiation through project closeout.
The Capital Project Manager is based in Maryland and reports to the Manager, Capital Projects.
Responsibilities- Manage a portfolio of projects based on business objectives through effective project execution planning.
- Manage projects across several categories including plant maintenance, productivity, safety, and strategic growth.
- Organize and lead capital projects through adherence to the appropriate project management methodology.
- Work with the team to acquire and release project resources throughout project phases.
- Ensure accurate execution of project scope, cost, and schedule.
- Align business objectives, project objectives, and the basis of design.
- Develop roles and responsibility definitions and ensure each functional team member understands their role and deliverables.
- Interface with Corporate Capital Project Leadership and Business Capital Planning Manager.
- Drive capital project work as described in standards.
- Ensure data is accurate and meets deadlines prior to initiating detailed design.
- Must be willing to wear PPE (Personal Protective equipment) including but not limited to hard hat, protective eyewear, steel-toed boots, hearing protection, Level A suit, full face respirator.
- Bachelor’s degree, in chemical or mechanical engineering.
- 7+ years of experience in Project Management in a manufacturing or chemical industry.
- Experience with project management software to control scope, schedule, and budget.
- SAP
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
- Process Safety Management (PSM) experience
- Experience using MS Project
- Experience utilizing the Front-end loading method of project development
- Ability to follow safety protocols and standards working in a pilot plant facility with highly hazardous materials
- Ability to work in a high hazard environment, including adverse weather conditions, elevated spaces, confined spaces, extreme temperatures, and noisy surroundings.
- Must be able to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb stairs and ladders over 100 ft.
