Supervisor – Field Operations
Washington Gas has an immediate opening for an experienced utilities professional to supervise the daily activities within Field Operations.
Schedule:
6:00AM–2:00PM or 10:00AM–6:00PM. Must be available for 24hours a day, 7 days a week emergency response and on‑call rotations.
- Supervise the daily work of Washington Gas employees and contractors involved in all aspects of infrastructure maintenance.
- Lead hiring, evaluation, training, performance management, compensation, motivation, coaching, and development of staff.
- Ensure that Field Operations meet or exceed corporate, business unit, regulatory, and project objectives while complying with Company policies.
- Ensure projects are completed within budgetary limitations.
- Oversee safe operation, maintenance, tie‑in of gas mains, and emergency response for an assigned region of the pipeline system.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local codes.
- Distribute planned leak repairs and other pipeline tasks among crews.
- Coordinate immediate and emergency response activities to protect customers, the public, and employees.
- Establish guidelines and practices to maintain facilities in accordance with applicable regulations.
- Perform on‑call duties when required.
- High School Diploma or GED required;
Bachelor's degree preferred. - 5+ years of related work experience, preferably in the natural gas industry, appliance service, natural gas piping, HVAC, or construction.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Pass gas odor recognition testing.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to reconcile conflicting goals, prioritize, and lead projects to completion.
- Working knowledge of pipeline construction, replacement, operations, maintenance, and emergency response procedures.
- Extensive knowledge of appliance service, gas distribution, heating & air conditioning, pipe work, electrical wiring, controls, venting, and ventilation.
- Mechanical aptitude.
- Planning and scheduling skills.
- Computer proficiency – Microsoft Office and related business applications.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presentation of ideas.
- Ability to build effective relationships with partners, supervisors, subordinates, and peers.
- Analytical problem‑solving skills for narrowly defined business problems.
- Salary: $103,500–$150,750 per year, commensurate with experience.
