Main Purpose of Job

Join Us in Making a Difference at DJS! A DJS Residential Group Life Manager II is the second one of two levels of managerial work providing supervision and guidance to youth residing in a facility operated by the Department of Juvenile Services. Employees in this classification oversee all services of a facility, except administration, such as direct care, intake and electronic reporting.

Employees may function as the Assistant Director of the facility. Employees in this classification supervise DJS Residential Group Life Manager I positions. The GLM II will provide direct supervision, guidance, and support to subordinate staff and female youth residing in a hardware-secure juvenile facility with a committed treatment program. The position is responsible for maintaining a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment while promoting positive behavior, accountability, skill development, and participation in treatment and programming.

The GLM II should have a genuine interest in working with youth, particularly the female youth population and be committed to building positive, respectful, and supportive relationships with them. Experience or training and general knowledge in gender-responsive programming, trauma-informed care, or other gender-specific interventions is a plus. The GLM 2 will work collaboratively with administration, facility staff, education and behavioral health to support youth development, reinforce treatment goals, and help prepare youth for a successful transition back to the community.

Employees in this classification receive managerial supervision from a DJS Assistant Superintendent Residential Facility, designated administrator or higher-level manager charged with directing the operation of the facility. Employees may be required to work evenings, weekends and holidays. Employees may be subject to call-in on a twenty-four hour basis based on staffing needs.
