SA-TECH is a progressive and well-established Department of Defense contractor specializing in Range operations and maintenance, weapons testing, facilities management, aerial, ground and seaborne targets O&M, technical, logistics and other engineering support, systems integration, electronics and communications maintenance services, and a growing cybersecurity business. We currently operate a dozen active test and/or training ranges for the Army, Air Force and Navy.

We are currently hiring several Master CNC machinists for a rapidly growing prototyping shop at WOLF in St. Inigoes, MD. Successful applicants will join a motivated team of Machinists at our facility, leading and performing all facets of machining, including programming, setup, and operation of top‑of‑the‑line CNC mills and lathes, as well as occasional conventional machining operations.

Responsibilities
  • Program and operate 3- and 5-axis CNC mills, CNC lathes, and on occasion, conventional mills, lathes, and miscellaneous machine shop equipment to manufacture unique products and systems supporting NAWCAD WOLF projects.
  • Implement geometric dimensioning and tolerance practices to ensure all production products are manufactured to drawing specifications.
  • Maintain proficiency in the latest CAD/CAM (e.g., Gibbs

    CAM) capabilities through formal and informal training.
  • Work collaboratively with customers to understand project requirements and schedule, develop machining options, and translate customer requirements into functional hardware that meets all specifications.
  • Actively train and mentor junior machinists and other shop personnel as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work environment.
  • Follow and enforce all safety standards within the machine shop.
  • Plan and conduct work from blueprints, drawings, test plans, and aviation technical publications.
  • Work well with others as part of a team.
  • Perform standard pre‑operational checks on assigned machines and notify facility PM technician for any issues with machine performance.
  • Fabricate unconventional, one‑of‑a‑kind items, systems, or apparatus in support of experimental project test articles.
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on assigned machines, manage tool inventories, and procure equipment, supplies, tools, and consumables as required.
  • Other tasks as required to support customer requirements.
Work Conditions
  • Work will be performed in an active machine shop (loud environment).
  • Must be well‑versed in safety protocols and able to wear PPE if required.
  • Position will include: 45% standing, 20% bending, 15% reaching, 5% sitting, 5% walking, and 10% lifting.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds unassisted.
Requirements
  • High school education or equivalent.
  • Formal trade school, college, or military training highly desired.
  • 15+ years of increasingly complex CNC machining experience.
  • Mix of conventional and CNC machining experience with knowledge of Gibbs Cam or other common CAD/CAM programs such as Mastercam.
  • Full command of milling, turning, grinding, and plating processes.
  • In‑depth knowledge of materials including carbon steel, aluminum, tool steel, stainless steel, composites, and fiberglass.
  • Skilled in mathematics required for machinists and ability to read a tape measure, micrometer, dial caliper, and other measuring devices.
  • Forklift experience and/or 3D printing experience a plus.
  • Ability to train fellow employees on machine shop equipment and operations.
  • Current driver’s license required; must be able to be insured through company’s vehicle insurance policy during work hours.
