Contract Manufacturing Operations Manager

Position Overview

The Co-manufacturing Operations Manager is responsible for managing projects of moderate complexity under the guidance of the Operations Lead – Contract Manufacturing. This role also manages data analytics, process and procedure management, continuous improvement, and overall co-manufacturing operations. It serves as a liaison between co-manufacturers and cross‑functional internal departments to ensure business objectives are met, and it works strategically to identify in sourcing and outsourcing opportunities, drive savings, and execute the Contract Manufacturing engagement strategy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Management (Moderate complexity)
    • Manage multiple projects concurrently, creative problem solver, self‑driven to identify opportunities to support the category.
    • Lead a cross‑functional team to motivate and influence others without direct reporting relationships.
    • Resolve, recommend, and strategically influence conflicting interests and priorities from different functions.
    • Support approved innovation platforms and line extensions, including in sourcing, outsourcing, and new platforms.
    • Manage projects that deliver approximately $50 MM of revenue to the company per year (exact number to be confirmed).
  • Data Management
    • Use tools and systems to compile, interpret data, and generate conclusions or recommendations.
    • Evaluate internal vs. external manufacturing capacity, capability, and economics, including capital, labor, and logistics requirements.
  • Processes and Procedures Management
    • Evaluate that processes and procedures are in place and followed.
    • Collaborate with functional areas to develop and update processes and procedures.
    • Act as an auditor to identify gaps and action plans to close them.
    • Own the procedure repository and ensure up‑to‑date procedures are available (e.g., on SharePoint).
  • Process Improvement and Projects within Co‑Man
    • Oversee supplier KPI performance and scorecards for the co‑manufacturing category.
    • Build strong partnerships with co‑manufacturers.
    • Apply continuous improvement methods and JTE tools to evaluate co‑manufacturer performance, including waste/scrap reduction, yield improvement, efficiency gains, should‑cost modeling, and automation.
  • Co‑Man Operations Management
    • Engage routinely with McCormick manufacturing, planning, procurement, and quality leadership on an ad hoc basis.
    • Build cross‑functional relationships and communicate effectively to create a team‑focused environment.
    • Develop broad knowledge of ingredients, quality, packaging, manufacturing, shipping, regulatory requirements, and specific certifications (HACCP, SQF, BRC, etc.).
    • Understand the innovation stage‑gate process, commercialization activities, and supply chain organization to efficiently execute projects related to co‑manufacturing.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, Procurement, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in Supply Chain, Engineering, Manufacturing, Procurement, or a related field.
  • Strong skills in SAP, SharePoint, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Ability to communicate and interpret complex data into actionable insights within a team‑based environment.
  • Experience interacting cross‑functionally with Quality, Procurement, Engineering, Finance, Supply and Demand Planning, Marketing, and Sales.
