Bindery Supervisor PositionJob Summary:
Responsible for supervising department personnel. Ensures that work is being done in the most efficient and productive manner. Responsible for checking all jobs for quality and accuracy.
- Carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws
- Train employees; plan, assign, and direct work; appraise performance
- Address complaints and resolve problems
- Attend monthly Managers and monthly safety meetings
- Conduct daily schedule meetings
Duties & Responsibilities
- Implement department goals, strategies, and procedures
- Execute specific action plans to realize internal goals
- Maintain systems and procedures to implement strategies
- Motivate individuals for actions that achieve department goals and lead to the fulfillment of the company vision
- Check job quality at the beginning of the run and spot check throughout the run time
- Check and deliver samples to the production office daily
- Check job jackets to ensure accuracy on finishing instructions, counts, splits on deliveries and correct destinations, and that samples were done and look acceptable
- Schedule work in the most efficient manner
- Assign employees to their jobs
- Assist with set‑ups and troubleshooting
- Ensure that production runs at its maximum
- Operate bindery equipment when necessary
- Monitor department safety regulations, ensuring that employees use protective gear and comply with government regulations
- Report workers' compensation accidents and complete necessary paperwork for filing
- Train and cross‑train personnel on equipment and procedures
- Keep employees abreast of new and better ways of performing their jobs
- Maintain machinery, report safety hazards, missing or broken parts
- Keep the area clean and organized
- Perform other duties as required
High school diploma or GED; 3 to 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must have knowledge of MBO roll and sheet folders, Stahl sheet folders, Polar cutters, Muller saddle stitchers, and Palamides banders.
Must be familiar with personalized mail of all kinds.
Forklift Certified is a plus.

- Sit and climb or balance occasionally
- Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds regularly; up to 100 pounds frequently; more than 100 pounds occasionally
- Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts
- Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock
- Noise level in work environment is usually loud

This position will support the bindery department on second shift 2:00 PM-10:00 PM.
