STULZ USA is seeking a motivated and detail‑oriented Manufacturing Engineering Intern to support the Manufacturing Engineering team in improving safety, quality, delivery, and productivity throughout the manufacturing operation. This position provides hands‑on exposure to manufacturing processes, capital equipment projects, facility planning, Lean Manufacturing, and Continuous Improvement initiatives. The intern will assist with data collection, time studies, process analysis, facility layouts, 5S activities, and capital project implementation while gaining practical experience in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support Manufacturing Engineers with the planning and execution of Capital Expense (Cap Ex) projects.
  • Assist with equipment installations, relocations, and manufacturing layout changes.
  • Conduct time studies and collect production data to support labor standards, capacity planning, and process improvements.
  • Create and update manufacturing floor layouts using AutoCAD or other approved software tools.
  • Assist with workflow analysis and material flow optimization projects.
  • Participate in Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
  • Support 5S implementation, audits, workplace organization activities, and sustainment efforts.
  • Collect, organize, and analyze manufacturing data to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Assist with development and updating of work instructions, standard work documents, and process documentation.
  • Participate in Kaizen events and process improvement workshops.
  • Support root cause investigations and corrective action activities.
  • Assist with equipment, tooling, and fixture evaluations.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and project updates for engineering and operations leadership.
  • Collaborate with Production, Quality, Supply Chain, Maintenance, and Manufacturing Engineering personnel on cross‑functional projects.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures while working in manufacturing environments.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Minimum sophomore standing preferred.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within cross‑functional teams.

Preferred:

  • Previous manufacturing, engineering, technical, or internship experience.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Exposure to AutoCAD, Solid Works, or similar design/layout software.
  • Knowledge of time studies, process mapping, or industrial engineering concepts.

Working Conditions &

Physical Requirements
  • Manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, moving equipment, and industrial operations.
  • Required use of PPE while on the production floor.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Limited travel between STULZ facilities may be required.
Schedule
  • Approximately 20 hours per week during the academic year.
  • Flexible scheduling available to accommodate class schedules.
  • Additional hours may be available during semester breaks and summer periods.
