Frederick Manufacturing Center (FMC) is a biologic manufacturing facility in Frederick, Maryland that produces medicines for patients worldwide. The facility employs over 800 people and is dedicated to treating cancer, respiratory and autoimmune conditions.

Position Overview

Production Technician I at AstraZeneca – in this role you operate upstream/downstream/central services processing equipment according to established SOPs, MPRs, SPRs and cGMPs. Your duties include solution preparation, cell culture, purification and formulation, and supporting activities.

Accountabilities
  • Operate processing equipment according to established SOPs, MPRs, & SPRs in accordance with cGMPs.
  • Prepare solutions, conduct cell culture, purification & formulation, and perform supporting activities.
  • Train with a qualified Technician on activities related to operating process equipment with the requirement of qualification.
  • Follow and execute cGMP documentation and utilize Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
  • Contribute to problem‑solving activities for non‑routine activities on the production floor and participate in continuous improvement activities for Manufacturing.
Essential Skills / Experience
  • Production Technician I
    • 0‑1 years experience with a High School Diploma.
    • Ability to work independently or in collaboration with others on assigned tasks.
    • Ability to comply with cGMP standards.
    • Must possess computer skills.
    • Ability to follow instruction and directions.
  • Production Technician II
    • 0‑1 years experience with Bachelors, >1 year with Associates, >2 years with High School Diploma.
    • Ability to work independently or in collaboration with others on assigned tasks.
    • Ability to follow cGMP standards.
    • Must possess computer skills.
    • Ability to follow instruction and directions.
    • Prior experience with aseptic/cGMP standards.
    • Prior experience in Bioprocessing work environment/systems/equipment operation.
  • Production Technician III
    • 1‑2 years experience with Bachelors, >2 years with Associates, >3 years with High School Diploma.
    • Ability to work independently or in collaboration with others on assigned tasks.
    • Ability to follow cGMP standards.
    • Possess computer skills.
    • Ability to follow instruction and directions.
    • Ability to perform job responsibilities with minimal oversight.
    • Prior experience with aseptic/cGMP standards.
    • Advanced prior experience in Bioprocessing work environment/systems/equipment operation.
    • BS/BA degree preferred.
  • Desirable Skills / Experience
    • BS/BA degree preferred.
    • Degree in STEM field.
    • Prior experience or exposure with aseptic/cGMP standards and environment.
Benefits and Compensation

The annual base pay (or hourly rate of compensation) for this position ranges from $56,072.00 to $84,108.00. Hourly and salaried non‑exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours. Base pay offered may vary depending on market location, job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, positions offer a short‑term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in equity‑based long‑term incentive program (salaried roles), to receive a retirement contribution (hourly roles), and commission payment eligibility (sales roles).
