Job PurposeAre you a mission-driven technical specialist who thrives on bringing complex hardware solutions to life? As a Solutions Technician, you will be responsible for the physical assembly, precise integration, and meticulous documentation of cutting‑edge hardware solutions within the Network Innovations U.S. Government (NIUSG) business unit. This is a high-impact, hands‑on role based entirely in our Frederick facility. You won’t just be looking at designs on a screen—you will directly build, wire, and test the tactical communication kits that support our nation’s most vital initiatives, ensuring they are perfectly prepared for low‑rate initial production and field deployment.
Dutiesand Responsibilities
- Maintain a consistent, hands‑on in‑office presence in the Frederick, MD facility to draw parts from inventory, physically integrate hardware solutions in the shop/lab, document builds, and support logistics for packing and shipping.
- Execute the successful and efficient integration, documentation, and transition of custom solutions to low‑rate initial production and productization handoff phases.
- Deliver and support custom solutions including satellite, cellular/5G, and other RF architectures, ensuring systems effectively meet mission goals for providing, monitoring, and/or denying communications.
- Identify appropriate technologies to implement architectures within strict cost and timeline constraints; prioritize “off‑the‑shelf” solutions whenever possible to minimize in‑house custom designs.
- Collaborate cooperatively across Operations, Engineering, and Logistics to overcome physical build limitations. Focus on active, practical troubleshooting and achieving documented results.
- Deliver high‑quality project documentation, including wiring, power, signal flow, and control plane diagrams, bills of materials, and comprehensive build, activation, and troubleshooting guides.
- Deliver clear build and customer feedback to management and engineering teams to continuously improve solution quality, reproducibility, and field performance.
- Be prepared to travel globally to manage the technical aspects of installations, operations, and maintenance of customer equipment and networks.
- Assist in other duties as reasonably assigned.
- Background in at least two core disciplines (RF, networks, control systems, or tactical field kits) with proven success setting up multi‑orbit SATCOM (Starlink/Starshield, One Web, iDirect, Via Sat) and multi‑bearer 5G/cellular solutions using Peplink/Speed Fusion environments.
- Practical experience managing, wiring, and diagnosing power distribution systems within low‑voltage, tactical field kit environments (e.g., 12
VDC vehicular platforms and universal 110/220 VAC power supplies). - Demonstrated success delivering precise project documentation—including wiring, power, signal flow diagrams, and bills of materials—enabling internal teams or outsource manufacturers to seamlessly replicate physical builds.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products is required; hands‑on experience using Lucidchart or CAD to interpret or create blueprints and schematics is a definite bonus.
- 3+ years of hands‑on technical experience supporting U.S. Government/military programs in a lab/shop environment, with the self‑motivation to manage concurrent project builds independently under tight deadlines.
- Must possess a valid, unrestricted passport for global travel (up to 25%) and a commitment to lifelong learning in a rapidly evolving technical landscape.
Must be a U.S. Citizen and have at a minimum a DoD (Department of Defense) Secret clearance or be willing and able to obtain a security clearance.
Working ConditionsThis position is primarily based at our Frederick, MD facility to support lab and shop integration. While standard hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, the role requires flexibility for surge support and travel (domestic and international) for equipment demonstrations and sales support. The successful candidate should expect to be on‑site 5 days a week, with occasional flexibility for remote work…
