Description:
Due to our continued growth, Wright Manufacturing, Inc. (WMI), an award-winning producer of commercial-grade lawn equipment, is looking for committed people to join our Finish Department, the final step in manufacturing some of the safest, most durable, and highest-quality lawn equipment in the world.
Our Finish Department plays an important role in preparing completed mowers for delivery. This position is responsible for final assembly, adding operational fluids, testing completed equipment, verifying quality and performance, and safely moving and staging completed mowers for the next step in the production process.
Forklift operation is an essential part of this position. Qualified candidates must be able to safely operate a sit-down forklift to move and stage mowers and materials throughout the Finish process.
Second Shift - 4:00PM-12:30AM
Additional shift differential for second shift hours
Overtime may be required on a daily or weekly basis
Essential Functions of Forklift/ Finish Operator:
Perform final assembly and preparation tasks according to Standard Work instructions
Add required fuel, oil, hydraulic fluid, and other operational fluids while ensuring proper fill levels
Conduct operational and performance testing on completed mowers according to inspection guidelines
Identify, document, and communicate quality issues, defects, or other concerns discovered during testing
Safely operate a sit-down forklift to move and stage completed mowers, materials, and equipment throughout the Finish process
Route completed mowers to the appropriate next stage, including Crating for shipment or the Hospital Area for rework or repair
Enter completed units into the production system and verify serial numbers and build records
Perform or assist with rework and repair tasks as needed
Use hand tools, pneumatic tools, diagnostic equipment, cranes, hoists, and other equipment as required
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
Properly maintain and store tools, testing equipment, and other department resources
Follow all company safety procedures and support Wright Manufacturing's commitment to Lean Manufacturing principles
Participate in problem-solving and continuous improvement activities
Requirements:Qualified candidates for our Forklift/ Finish Operator role should be able to demonstrate:
Previous sit-down forklift operating experience required
Ability to safely operate a sit-down forklift in a production/manufacturing environment
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
Consistent work history
Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
Competence with basic hand tools preferred
Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions
Basic English reading and comprehension skills
Basic computer skills for data entry and recordkeeping
Basic problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. when required
Ability to regularly stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist, push, pull, and reach with hands and arms
Coordinated with proficient motor skills and manual dexterity
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
Ability to work in an environment that is not climate controlled
Ability to work in a moderate to high noise level environment
Excellent attendance record
Education and Experience:
Previous manufacturing or production experience preferred
Previous sit-down forklift operating experience required
Basic mechanical or equipment knowledge preferred
