Kid Museum-Community Engagement and Partnership Development
KID Museum seeks an Ameri Corps VISTA to strengthen the organization’s long-term capacity to expand access to high-quality STEM learning opportunities for historically underserved youth and families across Montgomery County and the greater DMV region. This is a capacity-building position focused on creating sustainable systems rather than providing direct program delivery. The VISTA will develop and strengthen community partnerships with schools, housing communities, libraries, faith-based organizations, and youth-serving nonprofits;
create systems to track family engagement and participation retention; conduct family listening sessions and stakeholder outreach to identify barriers to participation; develop multilingual outreach materials and family engagement resources; establish volunteer and community ambassador recruitment and retention systems; build dashboards and reporting tools that measure participation, retention, and community impact; and create community engagement toolkits, standard operating procedures, and sustainability plans.
The VISTA will also strengthen scholarship awareness and community referral systems that connect families to educational opportunities.
Member Duties : The Community Engagement & Retention VISTA will build KID Museum’s organizational capacity by developing sustainable systems that expand access to STEM learning opportunities for historically underserved youth and families throughout Montgomery County and the greater Washington, DC region. The VISTA will design and implement a community partnership strategy by cultivating relationships with schools, libraries, housing communities, faith-based organizations, and youth-serving nonprofits.
They will develop systems to track family engagement and participation, conduct stakeholder interviews and family listening sessions to identify barriers to participation, and create multilingual outreach materials and family engagement resources. The VISTA will establish volunteer and community ambassador recruitment and stewardship systems, create dashboards and reporting tools that measure participation and retention, and develop community engagement toolkits.
