Founded in 1994, Mission of Mercy is an independent 501(c)(3), nonsectarian, faith-based organization delivering free medical, dental, and prescription services at church host sites through mobile clinics across central Maryland and south-central Pennsylvania. Our model relies on a small, dedicated clinical team working alongside volunteer healthcare professionals to meet patients where they are—both physically and emotionally.
The Nurse Practitioner serves on the front lines, providing direct patient care in a mobile primary care setting focused on adults with chronic conditions. Working under the Medical Director and Clinic Director, this role requires more than clinical competence—it calls for adaptability and a deep respect for every patient’s inherent worth.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver comprehensive primary care in a mobile clinic setting
- Order and interpret labs and imaging, including point‑of‑care testing (A1C, urine drug screens)
- Prescribe and manage cost‑effective treatment plans using Pharmacy Assistance Programs and retail discount options
- Coordinate care with limited external providers and community resources
- Support and mentor volunteer clinicians, helping them integrate into the Mission of Mercy care model
- Assist in clinic pharmacy operations as needed
- Participate in patient call support on non‑clinic days (no evenings/nights or weekends)
- Nurse Practitioner with an active license in Maryland and Pennsylvania (or ability to obtain prior to start)
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience
- Experience in primary care, internal medicine, or community health preferred
- Familiarity with Pharmacy Assistance Programs strongly preferred
- Experience with in‑office procedures, such as steroid injections, preferred
- Prior participation in medical mission work is a plus
- Be deeply aligned with a service‑oriented, faith‑informed mission
- Demonstrate compassion without judgment
- Be comfortable working in a fast‑paced, nontraditional care environment
- Value teamwork with both staff and volunteers
- Approach each patient encounter as an opportunity to restore dignity and hope
- 30+ hours per week, Monday–Friday (no weekends or evenings/nights)
- Job‑sharing arrangements may be considered
