SummaryThis position is available for licensed Registered Nurses (RN). Under a nurse’s supervision, performs designated technical, clerical, and clinical tasks associated with patient home care, including assessment, obtaining IV access, port access, education, and infusion of injectable medications. Additionally performs tasks regarding pharmacy quality control, management of pharmacy & nursing records, inventory control, and preparation of orders for drugs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Travel to and from a patient’s home as needed.
- Commit to a minimum of 24 to 30 hours per week on average; 30 hours required for benefits.
- Administer specialty medications via IV, subcutaneous injections, or other prescribed methods.
- Monitor patients during the infusion process for adverse reactions or complications.
- Assess patient’s medical history, allergies, and current medications prior to treatment.
- Evaluate physical condition and vital signs before, during, and after infusions.
- Identify and document potential risks, side effects, or issues related to infusion therapy.
- Educate patients and caregivers about medication, side effects, and expectations.
- Provide instructions for managing side effects or emergencies at home.
- Continuously monitor patients for reactions during and after infusions.
- Schedule follow-up calls or visits to monitor progress and delayed side effects.
- Adjust care plans based on feedback or changes in patient health.
- Maintain accurate records of infusion process, patient responses, adverse events, and medication administration.
- Document patient education and follow‑up instructions per regulations.
- Collaborate with nursing team, pharmacists, and other staff to ensure optimal patient care.
- Communicate issues or concerns regarding treatment effectiveness to clinical nurse supervisor.
- Ensure proper preparation and handling of medications, adhering to safety standards.
- Verify correct medication and dosage for each patient.
- Follow sterile techniques and safety protocols during infusion.
- Adhere to infection control guidelines to prevent contamination.
- Monitor medication stock levels and coordinate with pharmacy team to maintain supply.
- Support insurance verification or authorization processes related to specialty medications.
- Participate in CSI’s Immunoglobulin Mentorship Program as operational needs dictate.
- Serve as IgCN mentor to new or transferring local/regional nursing staff.
- Provide guidance, coaching, and professional support for immunoglobulin therapy delivery.
- Assist with training activities: review educational materials, infusion protocols, and patient care standards.
- Support skill development through direct observation, coaching, and feedback.
- Act as a clinical resource during mentee orientation or transition.
- Participate in document review and competency checklists.
- Conduct direct observation of clinical practice as required.
- Document mentorship activities, observations, and competency assessments per CSI policies.
- College degree/certification required or equivalent experience.
- RN: 2 years required.
- ER/ICU/Infusion: 1 year preferred.
- Experience accessing PIV lines, ports, and maintaining PICC lines: 1 year required.
- Infusion experience in hospital or home health setting: 1 year preferred.
- Successful completion of a drug screen prior to employment.
