Frederick Health Medical Group (FHMG), a highly respected 160+ provider, multi‑specialty medical group, is seeking a dedicated Advanced Practice Provider (APP)—Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant—to join our growing, mission‑driven organization. The program is nationally recognized as a Center of Excellence in Lung Nodule Management.

About the Role

The Advanced Practice Provider serves as a trusted clinician and clinical resource, delivering high‑quality care as the program coordinator for the Early Pulmonary Cancer Detection Program through comprehensive patient evaluation, treatment, education, and follow‑up. Working closely with physicians and multidisciplinary care teams, the APP oversees the program by identifying and triaging appropriate candidates, communicating with referring providers, and following patients through the process.

This role blends clinical autonomy with strong team support and offers meaningful involvement in quality improvement, patient experience, and care coordination initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive patient care including histories, physical exams, diagnoses, and evidence‑based treatment plans for patients enrolled in the nodule surveillance and lung cancer screening programs
  • Counsel and educate patients and families using clear, compassionate, and culturally sensitive communication
  • Coordinate care across inpatient and outpatient settings to support continuity and optimal outcomes
  • Order and interpret appropriate labs, imaging, and consults with attention to quality, safety, and cost
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, peer reviews, and workflow enhancements
  • Maintain timely, accurate documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR)
Required Qualifications Education & Licensure
  • Nurse Practitioner:
    Master’s degree from an accredited nursing program
  • Physician Assistant:
    Graduation from an accredited PA program
  • Active Maryland license (or ability to obtain)
  • Current DEA license and Maryland Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS) license
  • Current CPR/BLS certification (American Heart Association or approved provider)
  • Unrestricted license with no history of suspension or revocation
  • Eligible for participation with all payers
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience in Pulmonology or Thoracic Surgery sub‑specialty or acute care preferred
  • Strong clinical judgment and commitment to evidence‑based practice
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records
  • Excellent organizational, time‑management, and multitasking abilities
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem‑solving skills
  • Ability to work independently while thriving in a team‑based environment
Licenses & Certifications
  • CDS
  • CPR/BLS
  • DEA
  • CRNP (preferred)

Pay is based on experience, skills and education. The pay range may also vary based on specialty if applicable. Salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
